Motivation 101
Meeting Organizational Goals Through Cooperative Effort

"Human Nature has been sold short...[humans have] a higher nature which includes the need for meaningful work, for responsibility, for creativeness, for being fair and just, for doing what is worthwhile and for preferring to do it well."  Abraham Maslow

Format: 1 hour keynote-2 day session

Supervisors, managers, administrators and leaders are dependent on their team to meet organizational goals. The manager must provide the catalyst to initiate action within the department, organization or team. It is the function of management to coordinate activity, assign tasks, requisition resources, inspire the work group and facilitate the success of every employee for which they must assume responsibility.

The human being has the ability to extend greater amounts of effort if so inclined. It is up to the organizational leader to understand the delicate mechanism of human behavior and the motives and needs that drive them. The leader can then create an atmosphere and reinforcement pattern that will provide the proper incentive for the individual and the team to increase their collective effort.

Skillful managers will apply their knowledge of human behavior to motivate their team to accept their direction and enthusiastically perform to the best of their ability. This seminar will explore the myths of motivation, the axioms of human behavior, the evolution of motivational ideology and the contemporary views of motivational methodology.

Case analyses and application exercises will be employed in the longer sessions.
