A poem I wrote that was published in the book:
Never Quit! The Ups and Downs of Running a Family Business
by Donna Gray
I am a risk taker, I’ll take a shot.
Sometimes I’m a winner and sometimes I’m not
I know I’m in charge of my destiny
The choices I make are all up to me
Taking a chance on myself has allure
‘Cause I have the heart of an entrepreneur
I know the measure of a person’s success
Is not a huge office or a brand new dress
It’s finding your passion and using your talents
It’s having work, fun and family in the right balance.
These are the things that I know for sure
‘Cause I have the heart of an entrepreneur
I’m not afraid of what I can lose,
My house, my car and my favorite shoes
I can be happy whether rich or poor
‘Cause I have the heart of an entrepreneur
I don’t fear failure, I don’t fear success
I thrive on rejection, I bloom under stress
There may be a profit, there could be a loss
But there’s always the thrill of being my own boss
While not always right, I’m decisive and sure
‘Cause I have the heart of an entrepreneur
I know there are many disappointments in life
There can be failure, misfortune and strife
But it’s not a tragedy to fail, if you have tried
It’s a tragedy to die with a dream still inside
I am not just a dreamer, I am a doer
‘Cause I have the heart of an entrepreneur
